Frequently Asked Questions:
-
Is this a good alternative to Karting? Just how realistic are the simulators?
Absolutely it is! It's great fun, and professional race drivers visit regularly for circuit familiarisation and pre-race practice.
The software we use is used by many professional drivers and race teams. It is renowned for its physics system and replication of real-world car/tyre behavior.
-
What racing games or simulation software do you use? Is it just the Formula 1 games?
Our venues give you access to the same simulation software used by many professional racing teams for driver training and race car development. You'll get proper, real-world, physics and tyre replication, which is far more realistic than the Formula 1 games offer.
This does mean that our Simulators are more of a challenge than the F1 games, so be prepared to take it easy for the first couple of laps 😉
Our systems are all managed by the world-leading Venue Management Systems from Sim Racing Limited.

Are there any age/height restrictions?
We have a minimum age of 8 due to the challenge of the experience, and a minimum height of 4’5” (135cm), maximum height is 6’11” (210cm).
For Open Race Meetings, the minimum age is 14.
For Open Team Endurances, the minimum age is 16.
-
Do I need to book/can I just walk-in?
We highly recommend booking in order to avoid disappointment due to walking in while other events are in progress.
-
What time should I arrive for my event?
We recommend arriving 10 minutes before your booking time so that you can get signed in/registered.
-
Do drivers have to use gears and a clutch pedal?
All simulators are equipped with paddle shifters and optional clutch. Every driver will have the choice of either manual or automatic gears.
-
Do the race car simulators move?
Our Simulator Pods are stationary, which reduces the risk of motion sickness while using the equipment. We have found other ways to create our amazingly immersive experience.
-
I've never used a race car simulator before. Will everything be explained for me?
Absolutely. Most people that come to us are first-timers. All events begin with a driver briefing where the controls and event format will be explained. Our staff are always happy to answer questions and provide tips to get you up to speed.
-
What adaptations do you offer for drivers with disabilities?
The simulators are designed to ease basic access. In addition, we are always happy to discuss options to cater for specific disabilities such as restricted leg mobility. For example, we can remap the pedals to hand controls.
-
Can I come and see what it's all about before I book?
We're open seven days a week and are always happy for you to come and see the facilities/ask any questions you may have.
-
Can I drive any car and track I want?
We have invested considerable time selecting and tailoring driving combinations that we feel will provide you with the best and most enjoyable experience. However, you are still free to drive any car and circuit combination that we have in the system.
We have quite a range of cars from Formula 1 to Indycar, to Stock Car, to Touring Cars...and that's just the tip of the iceberg. You'll also find LMPs, GT3s, GTEs, and more.
Our range of tracks is also just as extensive.
-
What is the biggest group you can handle at The Race Centre?
Through a range of event formats, we regularly handle group events for anything up to fifty drivers, or more!
-
Will we be on track together and be able to see each other?
Our simulators are fully linked so you can see, hear, and race with each other all on track together at the same time.
-
Do you sell Gift Vouchers?
Absolutely! You can purchase gift vouchers for our Open Event Experiences through our online store, or by popping into our venue.
-
Is there parking at the venue?
Yes, there is a large car park used by the whole precinct with plenty of spaces.
The car park is free for two hours without the need to register. If staying for more than two hours, please register your vehicle registration on the car park terminal when you arrive at the venue.
Every now and then, someone forgets to register with us on the day. If this happens, or you otherwise find yourself receiving a Parking Charge Notice (PCN), then please do get in touch to see if we can help. Do not contest the PCN before speaking to us as it removes our ability to assist.
