BBC Children in Need – TRC 24 Hour 2024
This year will be the 15th TRC event in support of BBC Children in Need since we started in 2006. To date, it has resulted in the generation of over £75,000 for the charity – A huge testament to the spirit, commitment, and generosity of the participating teams and their supporters over the years.
An annual event for charitably minded race fans – It’s a great test of driver skill and team management as drivers race through the night. Yes, that’s right, the entire event is run just like the real thing. Starting with final practice and qualifying Friday morning, team briefing with Q&A, race start 3:00pm, racing through the afternoon into the sunset, through the evening and into the depths of night, eventually feeling the warmth of the morning sun, then the final push through Saturday morning and on to the chequered flag at 3:00pm. After 24 hours of non-stop racing, everyone then has a little breather whilst we collate the final fundraising totals ready to present along with celebrations for the winners!
Since the start of 2021, we have made a huge investment in new equipment and software to take this already awesome experience to another level.
Whether you’ve done this before or not, there has literally never been a better time to get involved. The entry fee is your contribution to the cost of the “fun”. When fundraising you can be clear that you and TRC have covered the costs of the activity, and anything that your friends and family donate is going directly to BBC Children in Need via Just Giving.
Team Sizes – We find teams of 3-6 drivers work well, but really it’s up to you (It has been done solo!). Our main tip is to have a team where everyone has a similar level of commitment. You don’t want 5 drivers who all attend the practice sessions and one driver who turns up on race day not even knowing the basic circuit layout!
Once you’re booked, just let us know your desired Team Name and the address for your team’s JustGiving page. This will fully secure your place and qualify your team for the discounted practice rates at any sessions you choose to attend prior to the main event.
It’s a fantastic motorsport event in support of a very worthy cause. Entries are welcome from Real Motorsport Teams, Teams of Friends, Family Groups, Local Businesses, and anyone else wishing to do something different in support of BBC Children in Need.
The event will be streamed to both our Facebook Page, and Twitch Channel!
Official Practice Sessions
We will be running 3 optional practice sessions prior to the main event. The sessions will be subsidised at £15 per pod, per hour, for teams who have set up and shared their Just Giving page. Otherwise, the standard rate of £30 per hour applies.
